Big Black Dog: Pink Saturday ***When Pigs Fly

Pink Saturday ***When Pigs Fly

Welcome to my Pink Saturday, a weekly event graciously hosted by Miss Beverly of How Sweet the Sound.

Spring is finally here in Northern Illinois. I've bought most of my annuals and planted some even though I know I should wait until next week to be safe from one more hard frost! But I'll live on the edge and plant any ways! It's so nice to have fresh herbs again right at my back door!!

I wanted to start out my Pink Saturday with a funny story about my husband. A few years ago he had been a bit of a grumpy fart for about a month. It was soon going to be his birthday and I thought something for his home office would be nice since it needed some sprucing up and there was one bare wall that needed something very special to fill up the space.

I happened to see a print a while back that I thought would be perfect for his office and would reflect a bit of my own attitude concerning his grumpy behavior. The original painting by Michael Sowa pictured a very pink pig diving into a pond. So I ordered it and had it framed. When he opened up his present he did not know what to say. The print really was not my taste nor his so I expected him to be a bit confused. But when I told him the title of the painting, "When Pigs Fly", he seemed to get the point.

Of course "When Pigs Fly" is not the title of the original but he will never know that. And the print still hangs in his office today! By the way the title of the Original Painting is "Diving Pig" but I like my improvised title better!

Next is something absolutely luscious to look at and even better to eat. And what could be better then Eggs Benedict with some gorgeous pink Canadian Bacon smothered in Hollandaise Sauce and served on a homemade English Muffin!

Please feel free to click here and print out the recipes for my English Muffins, Hollandaise Sauce and Eggs Benedict.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog for Pink Saturday and please visit Miss Beverly of How Sweet the Sound and see what the other Pinksters are up to!

And don't forget our Pink Saturday motto:

Get Pink !!!

It's not just a color, it's an attitude.

Oh I DO love the flying pig. There's all that deep, serene green and suddenly, out of no where - - - a naked streak of pink pig flying into the water.

I LOVE it.

How absolutely wonderful! Beverly sure knew what she was doing when she created a place for all of us "pinkies" to congregate and share our "pinkness".

One word: YUM!

Happy Mother's Day to you. I hope you find yourself surrounded by those you love, good food, and a gentle peace in your ♥. We don't need to be a mother to know a mother's life. After all we all started out with a mom, didn't we?☺

Thanks for visiting this beautiful Pink Saturday...loved the diving/flying pig...what a ligh-hearted touch. In Texas we've been dealing with a different sort of Swine...our local schools were on an unplanned "vacation" due to Swine Flu...but things are getting back to normal and we're all in the PINK.
Enjoy your week. LaVerne in Texas
