Pink Saturday - My New Camera!

I've needed a new point and shoot camera for a long time now. But being we're in a recession budget I've waited and waited and waited. Well, I finally bought my new camera, Canon sx200, and it's hot pink!







Since I'm a food blogger my photos must show every juicy morsel! And facing another winter with diminishing natural light was just not something I was looking forward to. So along with my camera I ordered a Photo Studio Light Tent Kit which included a 30" light tent, two studio lights including bulbs with 6' light poles and two back drops..

I set up my light studio in our den which we seldom use and it's working out well so far. However all the plants now on the porch I move into the den for wintering and it does tend to get crowded but I'm sure I can work something out because the light tent now has priority!

I love my light tent! I can't tell you how nice it is to not worry about lighting any more. I prefer working with natural light but since it's getting dark now so early I have little choice. Originally I wanted a 24" tent but I could not find that size with a lighting kit, so I just went ahead and ordered the 30" tent kit. I thought the 30" tent was going to be too big but now that I've worked it for a few weeks I'm so glad I got the larger tent!







Would you look at the size of these bulbs! They're almost 8"by3" and very bright!

Pink Saturday -- Past and Present

Fall is coming so quickly this year. Yesterday, it was so cold I closed all the windows in our barn and almost put the furnace on in the house! Although I love fall and actually enjoy the solitude of winter, I'm just not quite ready to let go of summer yet! Not at all!

Pink Saturday with some Smoke

This is my Smoke Bush (Cotinus Coggygria), isn't it gorgeous! It was terribly damaged during our awful '08-'09 winter and I was afraid it was not going to come back at all. After pruning out all the dead branches almost half the bush was gone. But here it is, albeit a little bit smaller, but still gorgeous all the same.












Every Saturday there's a little flea market in the next village and I try to attend whenever possible. Last week I took my camera and snapped a picture of this gorgeous Lilly.






And finally a delicious Fresh Strawberry Salad. The Strawberry Dressing is so good my first batch never saw a salad, I stood and ate all of it, spoonful by spoonful, straight out of the food processor! Please click here if you would like to print the recipe.

Welcome to my 11th Pink Saturday! I can not believe I've done 11 Pink Saturdays. And what's more amazing is that there is so much pink in my life. I never thought about it but pink is everywhere!

It's time for Pink Saturday

This will be a quiet Pink Saturday with 1 gorgeous dinner and one super gorgeous cake carrier! Sorry I don't have more pink for you but I burned my hand on the grill Friday while experimenting baking bread outside. The bread turned out fabulously but I can only type a very slow one-handed hunt and peck for a few days.



I made a scrumptious dinner the other night, Filet Mignon with Blackberries. It was just delicious! Notice the gorgeous medium rare pink of a perfectly cooked Rib Eye steak. I did not think the dish was going to be quite so good otherwise I would have bought a bottle of wine too! It's a very easy recipe and went together rather quickly too. I rarely ever make layered cakes but I sure have a gorgeous cake carrier whenever I do! I bought this beauty during a particular bad week during our renovation project. Every once in a while I had to reward myself with something spectacular. I knew the minute I saw this on Ebay it had to be mine.

Pink Saturday -- Lazy Days and Pink Stripes

Welcome to my Pink Saturday!

I've had a busy week but barely left our property. I always have the best days when I just stay at home. I fiddle and fuss with so many different things, sometimes getting quite a bit done and sometimes just being lazy.

I finally got our porch and patio furniture out of storage and almost arranged. And can now sit outside with my coffee in the morning. And yes, I am in my PJs and yes they are pink striped!

First, here are my Spring Cupcakes for this year. They turned out so pretty I could not resist sharing them with you. They are a vanilla cupcake with Plum Feathered Cream Cheese Frosting. They were delicious!! Please click here for the recipe.







It's still a little early for a our full summer color here in Northern IL but we have some color here and there.
