Big Black Dog: Pink Saturday - My New Camera!

October 3, 2009

Pink Saturday - My New Camera!

I've needed a new point and shoot camera for a long time now. But being we're in a recession budget I've waited and waited and waited. Well, I finally bought my new camera, Canon sx200, and it's hot pink!

Since I'm a food blogger my photos must show every juicy morsel! And facing another winter with diminishing natural light was just not something I was looking forward to. So along with my camera I ordered a Photo Studio Light Tent Kit which included a 30" light tent, two studio lights including bulbs with 6' light poles and two back drops..

I set up my light studio in our den which we seldom use and it's working out well so far. However all the plants now on the porch I move into the den for wintering and it does tend to get crowded but I'm sure I can work something out because the light tent now has priority!

I love my light tent! I can't tell you how nice it is to not worry about lighting any more. I prefer working with natural light but since it's getting dark now so early I have little choice. Originally I wanted a 24" tent but I could not find that size with a lighting kit, so I just went ahead and ordered the 30" tent kit. I thought the 30" tent was going to be too big but now that I've worked it for a few weeks I'm so glad I got the larger tent!

Would you look at the size of these bulbs! They're almost 8"by3" and very bright!

Happy Pink Saturday. My husband is my photographer and is dying for a new camera. His Nikon Coolpix works fine but he's always wanting to upgrade. I'm looking into the tent and the lightning. So many food bloggers have drop dead pictures. I want mine to look good too.

That's a really good price too. I hate the diminishing light in winter. Wish I had somewhere to set up a light tent :-P

Congratulations on your new photography "studio"! I have the tent without lights so you were wise to get it all. I have been using Photoscape (free!) this week to add "light" to pictures I must take in 9 months of overcast weather. Working out very well although the lights would make it all perfect.

Happy Pink Saturday, just a little late.
